Crocodile-stitch Drawstring Bag

This frilled crocodile-stitch drawstring bag was made by using cotton-acrylic blended yarn.

Changing size is easy. It should be multiple of 6 stitches at the end of round7(base of bag).

Approx. 18.5cm widh and 14cm high

Abbreviations:

dc = double crochet

sl st = slip stich

Instruction:

Numbers in ( ) at end of rounds tells you the number of stitches in the round.

Base of bag:

Round1: in the magic ring, ch3(count as dc), 11dc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch3. (12dc)

Round2: ch3(count as dc), 1dc in top of ch3 below, 2dc in each dc, join with sl st in top of ch3. (24dc)

Round3: ch3(count as dc), 2dc in next dc, [1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc] repeat around, join with sl st in top of ch3. (36dc)

Round4: ch3(count as dc), 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, [dc in next 2dc, 2dc in next dc] repeat around, join with sl st in top of ch3. (48dc)

Round5: ch3(count as dc), dc in next 2dc, 2dc in next dc, [dc in next 3dc, 2dc in next dc] repeat around, join with sl st in top of ch3. (60dc)

Round6: ch3(count as dc), dc in next 3dc, 2dc in next dc, [dc in next 4dc, 2dc in next dc] repeat around, join with sl st in top of ch3. (72dc)

Round7: ch3(count as dc), dc in next 4dc, 2dc in next dc, [dc in next 5dc, 2dc in next dc] repeat around, join with sl st in top of ch3.(84dc)

Body of bag:

Round8: ch3(count as dc), 1dc in next dc, ch1, skip 1dc, 2dc in next dc, ch1, skip 1dc, [dc in next 3dc, ch1, skip 1dc, 2dc in next dc, ch1, skip 1dc] repeat around, end with 1dc in last dc below and join sl st in top of ch3.

Round9(crocodile stitch row): dc in post of first dc on 2dc group(using front post technique, work 3dc and ch1 between each dc on first post from top to bottom, ch1, then 3dc and ch1 between each dc on second post from bottom to top), sl st in second dc on 3dc group, repeat around. Turn.

Round10(crocodile frill row): ch1, sl st in next ch1 sp, [ch3 and sl st in ch1 sp] 4times, then ch1 and sl st in fist ch1 sp of next crocodile, repeat around, end with sl st in top of ch3 on row8. Turn.

Round11(base of crocodile row): ch3(count as dc), ch1, [1dc in first dc of 2dc group on 2-row under, 1dc in between 2dc on 2-row under, 1dc in second dc of 2dc group of 2-row under, ch1, 2dc in middle dc of 3dc group of 2-row under, ch1] repeat around, end with 1dc in same dc as beginning ch3. Then sl st in next ch1 sp and next 2dc, so next row should start in middle of dc of 3dc group.

Round12(crocodile stitch row): repeat round9.

Round13(crocodile frill row): repeat round10.

Round14-row55: repeat from row11(base of crocodile) and row8(crocodile stitch) and row9(crocodile frill) or until desired length.

Round56: ch3(count as dc), ch1, [dc in next 2dc on row53, 2dc in next middle dc of 3dc group of row53, ch1] end with 1dc in same dc of biginning ch3.

Round57: ch3(cout as dc), ch1, [dc in next 2dc, ch1] repeat around, end with 1dc in last dc below.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Drawstring:

Ch165, and sl st in each ch, make 2.

One drawstring weaves into the bag so the ends come out on the right side, the other so the ends come out on the left side. Use the same holes to weave the drawstrings, however arrange them so one is on the inside and the other is on the outside.
