Fan-shaped pattern is very simple and eazy to memorize.

Using 100% indian cotton lace yarn with lagrer hook.

Japanese chart is available.

2.50mm crochet hook

Special Stitch Instruction:

fan-dc = 7dc in next ch5 sp

fan-dc-ch = 1dc in 1st dc of fan-dc, [ch1,1dc in next dc of fan-dc] 6times(total 7dc with 1ch between each dc)

Instruction:

Body of Scarf:

Row1(WS): ch398, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch5, skip next 3ch, [1sc in next ch, ch5, skip next 3ch] repeat across, end with ch2 and 1dc in last ch. Turn.

Row2(RS): ch5, 1sc in next ch5 sp, [ch5, 1sc in next ch5 sp, fan-dc in next ch5 sp, 1sc in next ch5 sp, ch5, 1sc in next ch5 sp] repeat across, end with ch2 and 1dc in 3rd ch of ch5 below. Turn.

Row3(WS): [ch5, 1sc in next ch5 sp, fan-dc-ch in next fan-dc, 1sc in next ch5 sp] repeat across, end with ch2 and 1dc in 3rd ch of ch5 below. Turn.

Row4(RS): ch5, 1sc in 2nd dc of fan-dc-ch, ch5, 1sc in 4th dc of fan-dc-ch, ch5, 1sc in 6th ch of fan-dc-ch, [ch5, 1sc in next ch5 sp, ch5, 1sc in 2nd dc of fan-dc-ch, ch5, 1sc in 4th dc of fan-dc-ch, ch5, 1sc in 6th dc of fan-dc-ch] repeat across, end with ch2 and 1dc in 3rd ch of ch5 below. Turn.

Row6-63: repeat row2-row5, end with fan-dc-ch row.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Edging:

Join yarn with sl st in first ch of beginning ch.

 

Row1(RS): ch8(count as 1dc and ch5 sp), 1sc in between row1 and row2 of body of scarf, ch5, 1sc in row3 of body of scarf, ch5 and 1sc in each one and a half trout to the corner.

On corner(row63 of body of scarf), ch5 and 1sc in same ch5 sp of row63(place marker), repeat row4 of body of scarf to the other corner, ch5 and 1sc in same sh5 sp(place marker), then ch5 and 1sc in each one and half trout across, end with ch5 and 1dc in beginning ch. Turn.

You should have 122 ch5 space(42 ch5 sp on each side, 1 ch5 sp on each corner and 36 ch5 sp on row63).

Row2(WS): ch8(count as 1dc and ch5 sp), 1sc in next ch5 sp, [ch5, 1sc in ch5 sp] repeat to the marker, ch5, 1sc in ch5 sp with marker, [ ch5, 1sc in ch5 sp] repeat to the oner marker, ch5, 1sc in ch5 sp with marker, [ch5, 1sc in ch5 sp] repeat across, end with ch5 and 1dc in 3rd ch of ch8 below. Turn.

You should have 125 ch5 sp (43 ch5 sp on each side, 1 ch5 sp on each corner and 37 ch5 sp on top).

Row3(RS): ch3(count as dc) 9dc in next ch5 sp, [ch5, 1sc in next ch5 sp, ch5, 1sc in next ch5 sp, 9dc in next ch5 sp] repeat across, end with 1dc in 3rd ch of ch8 below. Turn.

Row4(WS): ch3(count as dc), 1dc in 1st dc of 9dc below, [ch1, 1dc in next dc of 9dc] 8times(total 9dc with ch1 between each dc), [1sc in next ch5 sp, ch5, 1sc in each ch5 sp, 1dc in next dc, *ch1, 1dc in next dc* 8times(total 9dc with ch1 between each dc)] repeat across, end with 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Row5(RS): ch3(count as dc), skip all dc, 2dc in next ch1 sp,[ch1, 2dc in next ch1 sp] 7times(total 8 2dc with ch1 between each 2dc), [1sc in next ch5 sp, 2dc in next ch1 sp, *ch1, 2dc in next ch1 sp* 7times(total 8 2dc with ch1 between each 2dc)] repeat across, end with 1dc in top of ch3.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Changing size:

You should have multiple of 16 plus 13 for the beginning ch and multiple of 4 plus 1 for the second row of edging.
